As 2020 officially kicks off, we wanted to give you some insight into what Dignitas has planned. It’s going to be a busy, and exciting year! Our strategy covers five main themes that speak to all the areas of our programing in 2020.
Here are some updates highlighting what the different departments will be focusing on in the coming months:
We expect to launch 25 mini-libraries in selected partner schools. We believe in the power of reading and want to make sure every child has access to books that aid their learning and grow their imagination, helping them to dream and to achieve.
Early Years Cohort
We are currently enrolling for our first ‘Early Years’ cohort. We plan to work with 30 schools from Nairobi’s informal settlements to improve student achievement and well-being from Pre-School to Grade 3 by strengthening the capacity of their school and teacher leaders.
Ustadi School Leadership Institute
Our Ustadi School Leadership Institute, in partnership with Global School Leaders, moves into its second phase, building on the success and insights of the 2019 pilot.
We will unveil more detail soon, watch this space!
Digital Training and Coaching
We will be working with select partners to develop digital training and coaching. Our goal is to reach teachers digitally that we may never be able to reach physically so that even the most marginalized children have the opportunity to thrive.
With our partner Tailored for Education, we hope to distribute uniforms to even more children. We were able to deliver uniforms, shoes and sweaters to more than 4000 children in 2019 – enabling them to attend school safely, and with confidence.
CIES in Miami
We will be at CIES in Miami (March 2020), presenting as part of a formal panel on “The Role of Principals in School Leadership and Transformation: Evidence-Based Lessons from Kenya, Indonesia, Malaysia and Uganda.” Let us know if we should expect to see you there!
Stawisha Instructional Leadership Institute
Our Stawisha instructional Leadership Institute will be venturing into new territory – working for the first time with a cohort of public schools in partnership with the government, alongside another cohort of APBET schools from Nairobi’s informal settlements.
Growing our Team
We will be hiring for an exciting new role – Director of Partnership Development. The advert will be out shortly, and we can’t wait to welcome another education champion to our team.
Look out for it on our jobs page.
