Nick’s path to becoming an educator wasn’t straightforward. He didn’t always know he’d end up in education. It was his desire to help students who were struggling that lit a fire in him. Early on, he saw many kids facing academic challenges and felt compelled to make a difference. This drive led him to become head teacher, a role he has thrived in for 14 years.

This program, aimed at improving the quality of teaching, introduced Nick to emotional intelligence and collaborative leadership. “I used to get irritated so fast… learning about emotional intelligence changed that,” he recalls. This understanding transformed his leadership style, creating a more supportive and empathetic school environment.

As a national Scout leader, he has embraced values like discipline, empathy, and ethical behavior. He believes that a disciplined leader creates a disciplined institution, resulting in engaged, empowered, and ethical learners. His focus on Professional Learning Communities stems from his belief that, well-supported, continuously learning teachers lead to empowered and thriving learners.
