Steve Kariithi
Since April 2024, Steve has served as the Interim CEO, bringing his insights as one of the longest-serving members of the Dignitas Board alongside his experience as the first Country Director to the role. He leads with a deep passion for transforming lives and communities in Africa and the Global South.
For nearly 25 years, Steve has worked with local and international organisations to impact the next generation through youth leadership, orphan care and adoption, community health, and education. He has contributed to many community-led initiatives and movements, and has launched and led organisations and programmes that have scaled internationally. Most recently, Steve served as the Founding Director of YouthVest, an organization focused on building capacity in local leadership to advance population-level outcomes across 12 communities in Kenya. Additionally, he served as the Program Director for Hope’s Promise orphan care program in Kenya. Steve’s early career experiences serving children and families in Mathare shaped his values and beliefs about centering the experience and expertise of vulnerable populations in every decision. He is a sought-after speaker and has had the privilege of sharing his approach to unlocking potential at leading universities, faith-based institutions, and companies worldwide. Steve holds a degree in Community Development from Daystar University.
