Mary Kangethe, currently the Director of Education Programmes at the Kenya National Commission for UNESCO (KNATCOM), brings a wealth of experience. With a background as a secondary school teacher and roles in the Ministry of Education at both local and national levels, Mary served as the national coordinator for peace education. In this capacity, she led the design and implementation of critical national peace education activities, including policy development, curriculum integration, research, teacher capacity development, and material creation. Mary’s expertise extends to the customization and implementation of international peace education programs within the Kenyan context. Previously, she served as the coordinator for the Inter Country Quality Node (ICQN) on Peace Education under the Association for the Development of Education in Africa (ADEA) until 2016.
