We have some important news to share with our Dignitas community regarding changes in our leadership team.
Deborah Kimathi has decided to step down as CEO of Dignitas effective April 1, 2024. However, Deborah will continue to contribute to Dignitas in a new, part-time role as a Strategy and Partnerships Advisor.
Deborah joined Dignitas in 2018 after an accomplished career in East Africa’s development sector focusing on Child Protection and Education. During her tenure, Dignitas achieved 30-fold growth in program reach and won numerous global awards for its innovative programming.
In addition, we are thrilled to announce that Steve Kariithi, Dignitas’ first Country Director (2008-2010) and long-standing Board Member, has transitioned from his Board role on April 1st and graciously agreed to serve as Interim CEO at Dignitas. With over 24 years experience leading local and international organizations focused on impacting the next generation, Steve’s thoughtful, collaborative, and values-driven leadership makes him well-suited to lead Dignitas during this transition.
We thank Deborah for her leadership and impact at Dignitas and wish her the best in her future endeavors. Likewise, we are grateful to Steve for stepping in as Interim CEO, while we work with external support to identify our next leader.
As an organization, we remain steadfast in our commitment to advance Dignitas’ mission of transforming schools, developing school leaders, and ensuring all children have opportunities to learn and fulfill their potential. Please join us in congratulating and thanking Deborah and Steve!
