“Stawisha Instructional Leadership Institute has brought a big difference in my teaching career; the coaches are welcoming, friendly and well engaging.”Early Years Cohort School Leader (Nairobi)
Our Stawisha Instructional Leadership Institute is designed to equip school leadership teams to improve the quality of teaching and learning within their schools. The Institute offers participants an opportunity to receive high quality, award-winning training and coaching that will help them to support the learning and well-being of all children within their schools. During our coaching sessions in August, our School Support Team realized that School leaders had enrolled new teachers and, some were struggling to integrate these new teachers into their teams. One of our key support areas for partner school leadership teams is designed to help them develop a positive school culture that is sustainable and will allow new teachers to plugin smoothly.
As a result, in our August Professional Development Workshop, we unpacked staff culture by discussing strategies for developing an inclusive school culture. We also considered resources and templates that would help teams to successfully onboard new teachers. The School Leaders were also reminded how to continue living out their mission, vision, and values as this will play a role in shaping their school’s culture.
“The training is very educational and sharpens my skills in learning in a school and dealing with parents and teachers.”

Emotional intelligence is also a key ingredient in building a school culture as well as an individual’s capacity. The partner school leadership teams were trained on Leadership and how it connects to Emotional Intelligence in the second session of the day. We went through the five components of Emotional Intelligence according to Daniel Goleman and allowed the School leaders to reflect on the ones they would like to grow in.
